Heat Warning for Your Pets
Maryland heat is steadily rising!! So be careful when walking or exercising your pet outside on very hot days, the pavement gets really hot so you need to be mindful of your dog’s feet when spending time outside; their feet can get burned! Read more here!!
Plus, never allow a dog to drink a large amount of water in a short period of time (even if you know the dog is hot). If you know your dog is hot, it is safer to give 1/2-1 cup of water every 30 minutes, give ice cubes, hold ice on the pads of their feet to help cool them off, or put them in a cool (not cold) pool of water. If the dog is really hot and is not cooling off, they may need to be taken to a veterinarian.
Call 301-983-8400 if you think your pet has overheated.
