VETERINARY HOSPITAL
FALLS ROAD VETERINARY HOSPITAL has been serving the Potomac community since 1988 with award winning AAHA approved full-service veterinary care. Shortly after our present facility was completed we were awarded the Veterinary Economics Award for Hospital Design. Veterinary Hospitals must wait until they have been in business for two full years before they may apply for American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accreditation. Exactly two years after opening our doors in our new facility in Potomac, we were first inspected and successfully received accreditation from AAHA (see below for more details). Every three to four years, AAHA has continued their comprehensive inspections. We have consistently passed with high marks. More recently, we are extremely honored to have been chosen the Best Veterinary Hospital for 2011 by Bethesda Magazine.
OUR SERVICES
Along with our four accomplished, committed veterinarians we are proud of our extremely talented staff which includes some 30 years experienced vet techs. Our practice offers a complete in-house lab and pharmacy, a negative pressured surgery suite where we perform all types of surgeries including orthopedics, exploratories and soft tissue procedures. Our specially trained veterinary staff is experienced in endoscopy and ultrasound diagnostic and surgical procedures for foreign body retrieval and diagnostic biopsies. Our digital x-ray provides superior and immediate detailed radiographic images which may be accessed in all four exam rooms for consultation between the doctor and client. The images can be sent electronically to a Board Certified Radiologist for instant consults. We have one exam room set aside specifically for our cat clientele. A separate ICU area is reserved for any patients who may require isolation. Dentals are performed regularly with ultrasonic high speed fiberoptic drills and LED light curing available. We can perform a multitude of routine surgeries including spays, neuters and tumor removals on a daily basis. We have the ability to perform chemotherapy as prescribed by our staff doctors or in tandem with local veterinary oncologists. Our dedicated kennel staff offers bathing services and attentive day care when needed. All pets staying with us are walked at least three times a day in our spacious fenced in backyard. We are fortunate to have an expert professional groomer available three days a week for those breeds requiring more than a simple bath and brushout. We also carry a full line of prescription pet foods in stock and can supply special orders when requested.
OUR ON-LINE STORE
Falls Road Veterinary Hospital can now offer our clients an on-line store where purchases of most foods and selected medications can be made on- line and sent directly to their home. Prices on Heartworm preventatives and flea and tick control are competitive or cheaper than currently popular on-line stores. The additional advantage to our clients is that they can be assured that all of the medications and foods ordered through us are FDA approved and stored and dispensed per strict US guidelines. Access to the online store is offered through the Pet Portal option on our website. This Pet Portal allows our clients to view their pets information, request appointments, receive important medical alerts and clinic news, post photos of their pets, order prescription refills, create and print instructions for pet sitters or kennel staff, access reliable information on a wide range of pet health topics, view their pet’s vaccination history and request email reminders about when to give a pet’s medications. We also offer vaccine reminders by mail and e-mail.
OUR NEW PARTNER VETERINARY HOSPITAL
As of early 2010, Falls Road is now in partnership with another veterinary hospital. This hospital, The Greenbriar Pet Hospital houses a very large Luxury Pet Boarding Resort and is located in Urbana, MD. Located on 30 acres, they can allow outside exercise, nature walks, and indoor/outdoor runs with radiant heated flooring. A surgical specialist on staff, Dr Pooya, is able to perform any specialty surgery that may become necessary. Transport for pickup and delivery is available. Visit their website at Greenbriarpethospital.com. Both Falls Road Veterinary and Greenbriar Pet Hospital will continue together their commitment to provide the most comprehensive, up-to-date medical care possible to our patients.
MORE ABOUT AAHA: Our hospital is an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). AAHA is
recognized as the world’s leading association for small animal practitioners. In order to become an AAHA member, our facility completed a 39 page assessment on our hospital’s services and facilities. A trained AAHA practice consultant evaluated our facility, equipment, procedures and this assessment to make certain we comply with all AAHA veterinary care standards. Less that 12 percent of the small animal veterinary facilities in the United States and Canada are members of AAHA. Our hospital has reached the highest of the AAHA levels possible, a three year accreditation.
